Allman Brothers Band To Embark On Peach Odyssey Tour

Deep Banana Blackout, Phil Lesh & Friends, Susan Tedeschi join band on road.

The road does go on forever: The Allman Brothers Band will kick off a summer tour on June 15 in Pelham, Alabama.

The trek, dubbed the Peach Odyssey Tour, will climb up the coast, move as far west as Colorado, and turn back east. Dates run through an August 26 stop in Hartford, Connecticut.

The Southern rock band's lineup features original vocalist/pianist Gregg Allman and drummers Butch Trucks and Jaimoe Johanson; they're joined by Warren Haynes (guitar), Mark Quinones (percussion), Oteil Burbridge (bass) and Derek Trucks (guitar).

Deep Banana Blackout will open dates June 15 to June 24, while the August 2-5 shows will be co-headlining dates with Phil Lesh & Friends. Haynes, who took a break from the Allman Brothers in 1997 to concentrate on Gov't Mule, will also accompany Lesh's group onstage, according to the Allman Brothers' booking agent. The dates with Lesh go on sale Friday (May 11). Blues singer/songwriter Susan Tedeschi will support the August 11-26 performances.

The Allman Brothers Band, which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, performed a string of sold-out shows at the Beacon Theatre in New York in March.

The group's original lineup — which also featured Duane Allman, Dickey Betts and Berry Oakley — formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1969. Duane Allman died in a motorcycle accident in Macon in 1971. Oakley died the next year in a motorcycle crash near the site of his bandmate's death.

Guitarist Betts did not participate in the Allman Brothers' last summer

tour, with the band citing "creative differences" as the reason for his

absence.
