Iggy Pop To Follow Up Avenue B In July

Punk godfather to follow release of Beat 'em Up with fall U.S. tour.

Punk luminary Iggy Pop will release the follow-up to 1999's Avenue B on July 3.

Beat 'em Up will feature 15 tracks produced by Pop and engineered by Danny Kader (Cheap Trick, Soul Asylum), according to Pop's spokesperson at Virgin Records.

The former Stooges frontman's band on the album includes guitarists Whitey Kirst and Pete Marshall, drummer Alex Kirst and the late Lloyd "Mooseman" Roberts on bass. Roberts, who played with Ice-T in the heavy-metal band Body Count, was killed in a drive-by shooting a year ago.

Pop will promote Beat 'em Up with several European festival appearances in July and August, including an August 25 show at the Leeds Festival in England, and a U.S. tour in the fall.
