Trey Anastasio Keeping Busy During Phish Break

Guitarist plans solo tour for summer, is currently in studio with Les Claypool and Stewart Copeland.

Bigger venues, an expanded repertoire, and a couple new bandmates are among the surprises in store when Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio takes his solo act back on the road this summer for a 19-date tour that will begin in California and end in New York. Highlights of the run include two nights each at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, California and Red Rocks in Denver, Colorado.

The core band from Anastasio's previous solo outings — bassist Tony Markellis and drummer Russ Lawton — will return this third time around. Dave "the Truth" Grippo of the Giant Country Horns (saxophone), Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet), and Andy Moroz (trombone), all of whom joined Anastasio during his Winter tour this past February and March, will be back as well. Grippo's fellow GCH saxophonist Russell Remington will also join the brass section with Viperhouse keyboardist Ray Paczkowski rounding out the lineup.

Tickets for the tour will be available at local outlets, by phone, or via the Phish Web site using the band's new "Tickets-by-Mail" system between noon (ET) 4/25 and noon (ET) 4/28.

Anastasio is currently in "the Barn," his home recording studio, with Les Claypool and Stewart Copeland working on the first Oysterhead album (see [article id="1442360"]"Oysterhead Leave Shell To Record Album"[/article]).
