Elton John, Moby, Macy Gray To Honor Paul Simon

Tony Bennett, Stevie Wonder, Gloria Estefan also honoring folk-pop legend, current Grammy nominee at MusiCares Person of the Year dinner.

You're the one, MusiCares has told Paul Simon this year.

Elton John, Moby and Macy Gray are among the artists who will honor the folk-pop legend as the MusiCares 2001 Person of the Year in Los Angeles on February 19.

Also scheduled to salute Simon at the 11th annual tribute dinner will be Tony Bennett, Stevie Wonder, Gloria Estefan, Rubén Blades, Edie Brickell (Simon's wife), Shawn Colvin, the Dixie Hummingbirds, Shelby Lynne, Ziggy Marley, Joan Osborne and Take 6. Simon's former partner, Art Garfunkel, was not mentioned as a participant.

John, Wonder, Bennett and Estefan are past recipients of the Person of the Year honor, presented by the Recording Academy.

The dinner, to be held at the Century Plaza Hotel, will include performances and a silent auction. The event is one of the highlights of Grammy week, leading up to the Grammy Awards on February 21. Proceeds benefit the MusiCares Financial Assistance Program, established by the Recording Academy in 1989 to offer emergency financial assistance and addiction recovery programs to people in the music industry.

In a career that has spanned five decades, Simon has received 34 Grammy nominations and won 16 Grammy Awards as a singer, composer and producer. His latest effort, You're the One (RealAudio excerpt of title cut), is nominated for Album of the Year, competing against Beck's Midnite Vultures, Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP, Radiohead's Kid A and Steely Dan's Two Against Nature.

The tribute will air live on QVC from 9-11 p.m. PT.
