June 3 [19:00 EDT] -- The weeks of rumors and unconfirmed reports turned out to be true, as U2 has just been officially added to the line-up of this weekend's Tibetan Freedom Concert at New York City's Randall's Island.

The band will take the stage during Saturday's portion of the weekend-long concert, along with Sonic Youth, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, A Tribe Called Quest, Noel Gallagher, and others. Alanis Morissette, The Beastie Boys, Bjork, Blur, De La Soul, the Wallflowers, Rancid, R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe and Mike Mills and others will perform on Sunday.
