Sugar Ray To Let New Single Determine Tour Plans

Sugar Ray has been nominated for a 1999 Video Music Award for "Every Morning," the lead-off single from its current album, "14:59," and now the band is gearing up to shoot a video for its next single, "Falls Apart."

Although the specifics of when and where the video to "Falls Apart" will be filmed have yet to be ironed out, tentative plans call for the clip to focus on capturing the live Sugar Ray experience.

In a recent interview with MTV, band heartthrob Mark McGrath said reaction to the new single and video would probably determine if Sugar Ray would head back out on the road in the year 2000.

"We're going to make a video for the song 'Falls Apart,'" McGrath said, "and depending on the reaction to that … the reaction to 'Falls Apart,' will determine if we go out again in the millennium or what happens. So, there are no plans right now. You guys are really [zooming in] close,

aren't ya? But other than that ... we might go to some international territories in January, so we'll see what happens." [RealVideo]

Nevertheless, Sugar Ray will be playing shows in Canandaigua and Middleton, New York this weekend with the Goo Goo Dolls and Fastball. Sugar Ray has also been booked to perform at this year's Fiesta Bowl on December 31 in Tempe, Arizona.

You can also catch Mark McGrath as a presenter at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards, which will be televised live on September 9 at 8 p.m. (ET) from the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center in New York City.
