Sugar Ray To Turn Up At WWF Shindig

When Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Federation's finest turn up in New York's Times Square on Wednesday night to unveil the WWF's foray into destination dining, Sugar Ray will be on hand providing the evening's soundtrack.

According to the WWF, the band will perform at the grand opening of the Federation's new restaurant/superstore in Times Square Wednesday evening.

The WWF is also expecting stars from television, music, movies, and sports to brave New York's sub-zero temperatures to rub elbows with its kings of the ring.

The event is an invitation-only affair, but fans hoping to catch a glimpse of Sugar Ray (or The Rock and his fellow WWF superstars) can take in the whole extravaganza via a live cybercast at wwf.com. beginning at 6:30 p.m. (ET). The Web site promises to carry the band's performance as well as interviews with notable party guests.

The shindig marks the official launch of WWF

New York as the endeavor joins the ranks of EPSN's Sports Zone, the All Star Café, the Hard Rock Café, Planet Hollywood, and other New York destination restaurants. While the WWF New York store and restaurant have been open for business since late last year, the grand opening comes amid a blitz of press in the week leading to this weekend's "Royal Rumble" pay-per-view event. As part of the push for the pay-per-view, WWF superstar The Rock will also host MTV's "Total Request Live" on Wednesday.
