Streisand Pledges Not To Leave Fans In The Dark On New Year's Eve

While Megadeth, Creed, Sting, Live, Michael Jackson, Jewel, and others have had to pull the plug on planned New Year's Eve shows, grand diva Barbra Streisand's Las Vegas New Year's gala continues to plow straight ahead.

Streisand (or Babs to card-carrying members of the diva's devoted following) will ring in the New Year at Vegas' MGM Grand Hotel, and has hooked up with the battery makers at Duracell to make sure the Y2K bug doesn't leave her fans in the dark. In a Y2K-inspired marketing move, Duracell is kicking in some 13,000 flashlights that will be handed out to ticketholders at the show… you know, just in case.

While it is unlikely the lights will go out in Vegas on New Year's Eve (or any other night for that matter), concertgoers will be able to take the lights home as souvenirs of their night with Babs. Considering that tickets for the show are going for between $1,500 and $2,500, we'd recommend stealing some light fixtures too.
