702 Leaps Up Charts With "Mature" Single

Female R&B trio 702 made a huge leap from No. 69 to 15 on the "Billboard" Hot 100 Singles chart with its ladies anthem, "Where My Girls At," the first single from their self-titled sophomore effort, due out on June 15.

The Las Vegas group scored a gold record with its 1996 debut, "No Doubt," but recently told the MTV Radio Network that the sound of the new single was just a sampling of the growth that has taken place in the band in the intervening years.

"I think we've matured musically as well as mentally," explained 702's Irish. "Now we're speaking more about what teenage adults go through as well as adults. We're relating more to people our age as opposed to the last album, where we [wearing] overalls and singing teeny-bopper songs."

Aside from the video for "Where My Girls At," 702 has also racked up quite a bit of TV screen time with past appearances on "Moesha" and "Sister, Sister," and the group will also have a cameo in the upcoming ABC TV movie "Double Platinum,"

starring Diana Ross and Brandy.

702 has also inked a deal with the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency, but there's no word yet on what might be lined-up for the trio's first fashion-related project.
