Brian McKnight Takes A Step Forward With "Back At One"

Following the multi-platinum success of his 1997 effort, "Anytime," Brian McKnight makes a strong return with his latest, "Back At One.

In its first week of release, "Back At One" sold over 144,000 units, according to figures released by SoundScan on Wednesday, and it will debut next week at number seven on the "Billboard" album chart.

This high-scoring chart debut should come as no surprise to McKnight, who is very confident in the work that he put in on this, his fourth album of original material.

The suave singer has a full schedule of TV appearances

booked for the coming weeks, when he'll be seen on shows such as "Politically Incorrect," "The View," "Donny & Marie," "Queen Latifah," and "Soul Train.

McKnight is also scheduled to join legendary songwriter Carole King, along with 98 Degrees, Boyz II Men, Chrissie Hynde, Luther Vandross, Mavis Staples, and Reba McIntyre for "Carole King: Making Music With Friends," a concert event taking place at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden on October 14.
