After a brief appearance in last year's "She's All That" flick, rap diva Lil' Kim has landed a supporting role in "Juwanna Mann," a cross-dressing basketball comedy currently filming in Charlotte, North Carolina.
"Juwanna Mann" is being directed by Jesse Vaughan and also stars Miguel A. Nunez Jr., Vivica A. Fox, Tommy Davidson, Kim Wayans, and rapper Ginuwine in his first feature film (see "Ginuwine To Make Film Debut In 'Juwanna Mann'").
In the movie, Nunez portrays Jamal Jeffries, a cash-strapped, down-on-his-luck NBA player who masquerades as a woman in order to suit up for a WNBA team.
Lil' Kim has been cast as Tina Parker, Jeffries' girlfriend, although the relationship gets dealt a comedic blow when Jeffries begins to develop romantic feelings for one of his female teammates, played by Fox.
"Juwanna Mann" is tentatively set for a summer 2001 release.
With the role, Lil' Kim becomes
the latest rapper to dedicate part of her fall schedule to film, as DMX and Nelly are also working on their own respective movie projects (see "DMX Plans Next Film Role" and "Nelly To Make Film Debut For 'Snipes'").
Lil' Kim has already sold more than 775,000 copies of her newest album, "The Notorious K.I.M.," according to SoundScan.
In the first week of October, Lil' Kim will head south to Miami to reteam with video director Marcus Raboy for the clip to her new single, "How Many Licks?," which features a guest appearance by Sisqo.
Raboy previously worked with Lil' Kim on her video for "No Matter What They Say" (see "Lil' Kim Lands Meth, Puffy, More For New Video").
