L.A.P.D. Eyes Suge Knight In Biggie Murder Case

Death Row Records executive Marion "Suge" Knight has been named as a possible suspect in the slaying of rapper Notorious B.I.G., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Though Knight was already behind bars serving out a nine-year sentence at the time, police suspect he might have played a role in the March 1997 drive-by shooting of the 24-year-old rapper, whose real name is Christopher Wallace.

On Tuesday, detectives served search warrants to four locations that are linked to Knight.

According to Lt. Al Michelena, business records and a 1995 dark metallic-purple Chevrolet Impala were seized at the Death Row offices in Beverly Hills. The automobile matches the description of the vehicle used in the shooting, which took place outside of a "Vibe" magazine party held at the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

Knight's attorney, David Kenner, is expected to release a statement on the matter shortly.

Though police seem optimistic about the

progress made in the case, they are also exploring other leads.

"I've been waiting for two years for some answers. Now I'm waiting for solid proof that will lead to an arrest and a conviction," Biggie's mother, Voletta Wallace, said on Wednesday.

If anyone has any information on the case, please call the L.A.P.D. at either (213) 485-2531 during daytime office hours, or at (213) 485-2504 after business hours. (Please note that these are toll calls.)

Neither Bad Boy Records nor its CEO, Sean "Puffy" Combs, have commented on this development.
