Pavement, JSBX, Sleater-Kinney To Help Matador Celebrate Tenth Anniversary
Matador Records, the indie label home of Pavement, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and Sleater-Kinney, will celebrate its tenth year anniversary in September with two special weekends of shows, slated for New York City and London.
Pavement, JSBX, and Yo La Tengo will headline the New York gigs, scheduled for September 23-25 at NYC's Irving Plaza, while Sleater-Kinney, Yo La Tengo, and unannounced "special" guests will top the bills of the U.K. concerts, being held on September 3-5 at the University of London Union.
As part of the celebration, Matador plans to issue a special double-album retrospective, dubbed "Music is Nice," collecting some of its artists best known "hits," and some previously unreleased tracks, from the likes of Pavement, Yo La Tengo, JSBX, Cat Power, the Arsonists, and others.
A companion Matador video collection, "Video Is Nice," is also being assembled, and both the album and the VHS/DVD set are expected to drop on September 14.
