Ice-T To Host "L.A. Weekly" Music Awards

Ice-T has signed on to host this year's "L.A. Weekly" Music Awards, while the Doors' Ray Manzarek, X's John Doe, and former Concrete Blonde frontwoman Johnette Napolitano will all serve as presenters for the event, scheduled for June 29 at the Henry Fonda Theater on Hollywood Boulevard.

Performers are still being lined up for the annual awards show, which will honor local musicians and groups in some 20 different categories, including Best New Artist, Best Rock Band, and Best Dance Music Artist, among others.

The "L.A. Weekly" Music Awards will be held in conjunction with the L.A. Music 2000 conference, scheduled for June 23-29 and which will spotlight the sights, sounds, styles and innovations of the Los Angeles music scene.

The artists nominated for this year's awards include Dr. Dre, Rage Against The Machine, Ben Harper, Coal Chamber, Macy Gray, Beck, Buckcherry, Kool Keith, System Of A Down, Aimee Mann, Mike Ness, Jurassic, Eels, and L7.
