Robbie Williams, Macy Gray, Travis Honored At Brit Awards
Robbie Williams, Macy Gray, and Travis led all winners at the tumultuous and lively 2000 Brit Awards -- the U.K.'s equivalent of the Grammys -- as both statues and taunts flowed freely from the Earl's Court stage in London on Friday night.
During the show, Williams, who was honored for Best British Single and Video for "She's The One," challenged Oasis' Liam Gallagher, who is currently on tour in Japan, to a televised fight for £100,000 prize money, according to MTV Europe.
Others causing a row at the Brit Awards were Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood and DJ Brandon Block, as Wood threw a drink at Block after the DJ rushed the stage when Wood was co-presenting an award in the category of Best Soundtrack/Cast Recording.Wood and Block then proceeded to get into a verbal shouting match, which ended with Block being forcibly escorted from the stage by several members of the venue's security staff.British pop and rock fans also tuned in to the Brit Awardsto see if the Spice Girls would reunite with former member Geri Halliwell when the group received a lifetime achievement award for its Outstanding Contribution to British Music.
But a full-fledged Spice Girls reunion was not to be; both Halliwell and the Spice Girls performed separately at the awards show, although the remaining four Spices openly thanked Halliwell for helping them win the honor.Halliwell seemed to be less keen on mending fences, as she offered up a rendition of her new single, "Bag It Up," under a sign inscribed with "Girl Powder," a dig of sorts at the Spice Girls' infamous "Girl Power" slogan.Winners of the 2000 Brit Awards:Best British Group:- Travis
