Grandmaster Flash Takes DJ Innovations To Web, Lands Film Deal

Seminal rap figure Grandmaster Flash, who helped innovate much of the DJ mixing technology around today, is now looking to take his music and technology experiments to the Web.

Flash admitted to the MTV Radio Network that he's just becoming aware of the outlet the Internet can offer him, and he compared his recent HTML education to the days when he was revolutionizing DJ gear.

"It's almost a new baby," offered Grandmaster Flash, whose "The Message" single with Melle Mel and the Furious Five remains one of the landmark's in rap. "It reminds me of when I was biting wires and creating [a new] mixer and the cueing of certain turntables. This Internet thing is just large and scary and I totally don't understand it yet, but I will."

Aside from his new site (www.grandmasterflash.com), Flash is also busy with several other projects, including a hush-hush compilation album he's putting together for Warner Bros. that

will include spots from his two sons, Joseph Jr. and Kareem.

In August, Grandmaster Flash will return as the in-house music director and DJ for HBO's "The Chris Rock Show," and Flash has just inked a deal with Paramount Pictures to develop a film based on his life.
