Primus To Record Covers, Then Join Rancid, Wyclef, Offspring On Snowboarding Circuit

Primus will hit record racks later this year with an EP collection of suitably oddball cover songs. A spokesperson for the band's label, Interscope Records, confirms that the band will tackle Metallica's "The Thing That Should Not Be," Peter Gabriel's "The Family And The Fishing Net," and Jerry Reed's "Amos Moses" among other oddities. The EP, which will also feature a few live tracks, does not have a release date yet.

As we first reported in January (see [article id="1426211"]"Primus, Blink 182 Sign On For Sno-Core Tour"[/article]), Primus is currently making the rounds, along with Blink-182, the Aquabats, and the Long Beach Dub All-Stars, on this year's Sno-Core Tour, which plays Montreal on Wednesday.

As previously reported ([article id="1426209"]"Rancid, Blink-182 To Play Board Stiff In Seattle"[/article]), Blink-182's extreme winter concert circuit also includes a gig with Rancid, Our Lady Peace and the Specials outside of Seattle on

March 28 for a snowboarding competition-slash-concert dubbed Board Stiff. The event will kick off this year's Big Air series, which will also feature performances by Pennywise and God Lives Underwater on select dates.

Elsewhere on the boarding front, Wyclef Jean and the Refugee Allstars will join the Offspring, the Royal Crown Revue, The Specials and Steel Pulse at this year's Board AID benefit, set for March 15 at California's Bear Mountain Resort. Proceeds from that event will benefit LIFEbeat, the Music Industry Fights AIDS.
