Mack 10, Fat Joe Take Star Turns In New Film

"Thicker Than Water," a new film starring Mack 10 and Fat Joe as inner-city gangsters, began shooting this week on location in Los Angeles.

Mack 10 wrote the original treatment for "Water" and is both producing and providing financial backing for the film project, which also features cameos by Cypress Hill's B-Real and Big Pun.

It's still up in the air as to whether the film will be released theatrically or take the straight-to-video route, although Mack 10 and Priority Films hope to have "Thicker Than Water" out by December 1998 or January 1999. A "Thicker than Water" soundtrack album, with cuts from Mack 10, Fat Joe and Big Pun is also in the works.

The L.A.-based Mack just wrapped a remix of the Clash's "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" with Ice Cube and Korn (see "Ice Cube Talks About Taking On The Clash, N.W.A. Reunion") for the upcoming tribute album to the seminal U.K. punk rockers.

The

updated version of "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" will also be the last song on Mack 10's solo album, "The Recipe," which also features a previously unreleased duet that Mack 10 recorded with the late Eazy-E.

Other hip-hop notables coming out to offer vocal support on "The Recipe," which arrives in stores in October, include Ice Cube, Master P, Big Pun, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Jermaine Dupri, Fat Joe and Foxy Brown, among others.
