Bob Dylan And Joan Osborne Collaborate On Track For TV Mini-Series

Bob Dylan and Joan Osborne huddled in a Manhattan studio over the weekend to cut a new version of Dylan's "Chimes of Freedom" for the soundtrack to an upcoming NBC mini-series, "The '60s."

Veteran Dylan accompanist and former Blood, Sweat and Tears founder Al Kooper -- who played organ on Dylan's classic "Like a Rolling Stone" -- was also a part of the Halloween night sessions for the updated take on "Chimes of Freedom." Dylan originally recorded the song for his 1964 album, "Another Side of Bob Dylan."

The song is just the latest collaboration between Dylan and a female singer-songwriter, as Dylan gave "Mississippi," an outtake from his 1997 Grammy award winning album, "Time Out of Mind," to Sheryl Crow to re-record for her new album, "The Globe Sessions."

The '60s" mini-series, which stars Jerry O'Connell, Josh Hamilton and Julia Stiles as a fictional family caught up in the social upheaval of the decade, will air in February 1999, while the soundtrack is set for

release in January.
