Tribe DJ Brings Together DJs For Kosovo

Former Tribe Called Quest in-house DJ and beatmaster Ali Shaheed Muhammad has mobilized some of his DJ friends to aid Kosovar refugees.

Muhammad has put together an event called A DJ Saved My Life, which will bring together turntablists next week in New York City to benefit the refugees of Kosovo.

Like many of the Kosovar refugees, Muhammad subscribes to the Muslim faith, and he enlisted the help of mix tape master DJ Tony Touch, Black Moon's DJ Evil Dee, De La Soul's DJ Mase, and rapper J-Live for the show.

The DJs will descend on New York's Tramps on July 8, and all donations and proceeds from ticket and T-shirt sales will help two organizations, CARE and War Child.

A similar event took place last weekend in San Francisco featuring dance DJs Tomas, Felix The Dog, Siren and others.
