Gwen, Gavin, Blur Try To Halt U.K. Oil Drilling

September 17 [10:00 EDT] -- Gwen Stefani of No Doubt and her beau Gavin Rossdale of Bush are among the more than 60 musicians who've signed a Greenpeace U.K. petition, urging British prime minister Tony Blair to stop drilling for oil in the North Sea, and start investing in cleaner solar energy.

Members of Blur, Supergrass, Republica, and U.S. acts Pavement and the Eels have also signed the petition, along with over 100,000 non-musician types.

Greenpeace, which stateside just laid off 350 employees in the wake of sharply diminished membership and donations, plans to present the petition to Blair when he attends the world climate convention in Kyoto, Japan this December.
