B*Witched Touring, Recording On The Fly

Girl group B*Witched received a taste of the same kind of fame it enjoys in its native Ireland when it played before a stadium crowd of 79,000 for the Women's World Cup soccer championships at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey last weekend.

Although the group's album has only been out a few months in the States and the quartet is comparatively unknown on these shores, it just celebrated its fourth consecutive number one single in the U.K. with "Blame It On The Weatherman.

It's strange to be here and not have people recognizing you and coming up to you all the time," singer Lindsay Armaou told MTV News. "It's nice in a way, but it's also nice to get back to playing for a big crowd.

B*Witched (Armaou, Sinead O'Carroll, and twins Edele and Keavy Lynch) first hit the Brit charts with "C'est La Vie" in a flood of headlines mostly centering on how the Lynch twins and their brother Shane, a member of Boyzone, were enjoying simultaneous number one records (see

C'est La Vie" went on to hit the "Billboard" Top Ten in the U.S. nearly a year later. The group just released "Rollercoaster" as its second Stateside single.

The girls will be getting a chance to expand their audience in the U.S. when they return to these shores in July to join the Nickolodeon "All That" Music & More Festival with Monica, No Authority, Tatyana Ali, and 98 Degrees. B*Witched will be signing on to the in-progress road trip as of July 23 and playing through to August 15 (see [article id="1432249"]"Monica, 98 Degrees, B*Witched, Others Line Up 'All That' Tour"[/article]).

Meanwhile, the band is on its way home to Ireland for week or so off before heading to London to spend more time recording its second album. The group has been working on it for several months now, according to Armaou.

We're about halfway through, I think,"

Armaou said. "We've been recording on the fly as well, grabbing studio time whenever we've had a few days off.

The singer also mentioned that last week, after performing at a handful of radio station concerts on the West Coast, the band flew up to the more immigration-friendly city of Vancouver to work on the record with producer Ray Hedges.

The group's second LP is expected to be released worldwide later in the fall.
