It’s apparently quite the loaded week for hip-hop beef. Just days after Kid Cudi called out Drake and Kanye West (prompting furious responses from each of them), The Game is taking shots at noted rap punching bag Meek Mill.
There’s a lot to unpack in this brewing beef, and it all began late last night (September 15), while The Game was performing at a club in Miami. Seemingly out of nowhere, he began verbally obliterating Meek from behind the mic, calling the Philly MC a snitch and threatening to beat him up.
“Aye, Meek Mill snitching on me,” The Game shouted to the crowd. “I just want to beat that n***a’s ass one good time. When you see me n***a, square up. It ain't gotta be about no guns. Fuck Meek Mill.”
Just hours later, Game debuted a new song, “92 Bars,” on Power 105, which is full of fighting words: “Ever since that n****a snitched on me we just don’t speak / See that shit you got with Drake is like a slow leak / Blood will be dripping like Niagra if I poke Meek / Nicki won’t get no sleep, I’m coming through at 4 a.m. / Four deep and leave a dead body on the sheet.” He even talks about wanting to give Meek’s girlfriend Nicki Minaj his “pool stick,” and goes on to warn, "You know that I'll snap you like a toothpick.”
In an incident that may or may not be related to all of this, just hours after The Game’s Miami club performance, he and his entourage were reportedly targets of a shooting. Game was unharmed, however, and many fans were quick to point out that his brewing beef with Meek may be entirely coincidental. After all, Game also has a well-documented feud with Miami-based rapper Stitches. The Game loves his beef, what can we say?
ANYWAY, after dropping the chest-puffing “92 Bars,” Game kept fanning the flames by posting a photo on Instagram of him and Minaj. The pic is from the set of her 2014 “Pills and Potions” video, and shows her with her arm wrapped around him. The Compton MC captioned it, “The last time Nicki held a REAL N***A !!!,” followed by a rat emoji and the hashtags #7thGradeBodyHavinAssN***a, #Snitch, #RatsWillDoAnythingForCheese, and #WeakMeal. Ouch.
Thus far, Meek has had only one vague response to the unfolding drama, captioning an Instagram pic, “We ain’t rapping famhandle ya biz...I love this shit lol.”
So ... the biggest question we’re left with is: What the hell inspired this crazy mess?! According to TMZ, it might all be tied to an incident at an L.A. nightclub three months ago that involved Sean Kingston. Yes, as in “Beautiful Girls” rapper Sean Kingston, who was robbed of a $300K chain in June. TMZ reports that both The Game and Meek were in the club at the time of the incident, and Game allegedly believes Meek told Kingston’s crew that Game was involved in the robbery. Ergo, all that “snitching” talk.
No matter what the cause was, it’s pretty clear things are only going to get messier from here, so stay tuned.
