Titillating Tango

Imagine the tango with a hip-hop beat. That's what you get with Debelah Morgan's "Dance With Me" (RealAudio excerpt), the lead single from her album of the same name. A sexy, energetic track chock full of nearly naughty lyrics and enticing vocals, it sets the stage for the rest of the album, a lively mixture of songs, all written by Morgan, about being in and out of love, partying and getting downright sexy.

Each song is embraced by the singer's multirange soprano vocals. The upbeat "I Remember" (RealAudio excerpt) recalls that special moment when two people fall in love. "Close to You" is a luscious ballad, while "Let's Get It On" (RealAudio excerpt) is a groove-driven track with sexually forward lyrics that might make Marvin Gaye blush. "Rain" has an old-school '70s pop feel, while "What Would You Do" embraces a more modern R&B style. "Alright" is a song about trusting in God. While vocally Morgan is capable of riding a wave of octaves, she is at her best at the lowest and highest ends of her range.

Dance With Me, Morgan's third album, is R&B-infused pop with loads of commercial appeal. It's easy to grasp, easy to swallow and, though not profound or groundbreaking, entertaining and enjoyable.
