Travis Barker Teams Up With Four Fierce California MCs On '100': Listen Here
Travis Barker is a busy guy. Not only is he Blink-182’s drummer, but he’s also written a memoir called Can I Say: Living Large, Cheating Death, and Drums, Drums, Drums, which we discussed a few weeks ago.
In the meantime, he’s also working on new music. Barker just shared a lyric video for a new song called “100,” featuring a slew of marquee West Coast rappers. Barker calls on California’s best and brightest -- Kid Ink, Iamsu!, Ty Dolla $ign and Tyga all contribute verses.
Barker, as producer, provides a bouncy instrumental that’s heavily indebted to L.A.’s prevailing post-DJ Mustard sound. It’s all low-slung synth notes and percussive claps, perfect for the club or the open road.
Iamsu!, the rising Bay Area MC, contributes a notably catchy verse about his elusive flirtation tactics — “I got her begging me to stay now, send a text, bet she slide like a playground,” he raps, adding, “One time for the Bay now, She my buddy with the money, she a PayPal.”
Tyga and Kid Ink keep things similarly lighthearted, while Ty Dolla $ign provides a golden-voiced chorus.
It’s not breaking any new ground, but “100” is just what the doctor ordered for your outdoor activities this summer.
