Another Woodies has come and gone! With it came a slew of epic performances, crowd-hyping intros, and a look into breakthrough music that's sure to keep us covered until 2017. Shall we recap what went down?
This year, the MTV Woodies/10 for 16 was held on March 16, at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Harlem rapper and cultural tastemaker, A$AP Rocky was our host with the most, thrilling the crowds and chilling backstage with performers to find out more about their music. While A$AP kicked off the show, our first performance came from founding Mob member, A$AP Ferg who brought down the house with "New Level."
But wait, there's more. The Woodies class of 2016 featured artists shared more about the musicans that cosigned them, and how that's impacted their careers. Then California-based artist Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals hit the stage to get the audience moving during their performance of "Am I Wrong." Next up was the eclectic sounds of London-based, electro-pop artist, Jack Garratt, who wowed the crowd with his performance of "Worry" and his multi-instrumental effects.
As A$AP kicked it backstage with performers like BØRNS, Jack Garratt, and his Mob, guest stars like actress Alia Shawkat, actor/badass Aaron Paul, and Clipse's own Pusha T took over with the intros. Jidenna also made an appearance, clad in everything 'classic' (of course), to recap the mind-blowing performances from the Woodies festival that preceded the main event. R&B artist and all-around Queen Kehlani then rocked out to her hit, "The Way" while Glasgow's own Chvrches had us grooving to the poppy sounds of "Clearest Blue." To finish the night, Chainsmokers thrilled us with a rendition of their chart-topping hit, "Roses" that had everyone singing along.
This year's show definitely had us counting down the moments til 2017! To tie yourself over until then, relive all of the amazing moments from the MTV Woodies/10 for 16 here.
