It's official, music junkies: the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards will soon be upon us, and if you're dying to know more about the show, we've got some news for you! The 2016 MTV VMAs will air live on Sunday, August 28th from Madison Square Garden in New York City - the first time the show has ever graced MSG's legendary stage.

Speaking of legendary, VMA veteran and all around badass Rihanna will accept the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award on top of rocking the VMA stage for what's sure to be a mind-blowing performance. But if you can't even with that news, we've got something else that will blow your mind: Britney is back, bitch. Taking to the the VMA stage for the first time in 10 years, music icon Britney Spears will be thrilling fans with a world-premiere performance of "Make Me…" featuring G-Eazy. In addition to Brit, we have multi-platinum recording artist, Nick Jonas slated to perform a sizzling rendition of "Bacon" featuring Ty Dolla $ign, along with a performance by Atlanta rapper and fellow newbie to the VMA stage, Future. And on top of it all, Ariana Grande will make a triumphant return to the VMA stage with superstar Nicki Minaj to perform "Side to Side."

But before this all goes down, we have one hell of a pre-show for you, co-hosted by global hit-making producer, recording artist and social media mogul, DJ Khaled, MTV2's "Uncommon Sense" star, Charlemagne Tha God and host of MTV's upcoming live music series, "Wonderland," Lizzo.

We know, we're freaking out too.

Voting has officially closed for the 2016 Video Music Awards, but if you haven't already, be sure to vote for Best New Artist, which will stay open until the night of the show.
