Take a journey with hardcore Brooklyn rapper Maino and filmmaker Anrdrew Jenks as they go from crazy parties and sold out shows to a visit in the neighborhood from Maino's rough past.
It does if your a rapper.
Go spend a week with a skateboarder like Chris Cole or Sean Malto or someone
wow mainos women advice wouldnt work on someone classy! "you da baddest ***** in here?" lol get outta here
you should spenda week with the band Paramore
Who is Maino? Didnt you just see him perform in front of 15,000 people? i think Maino is a good example of misconception. People get confused by "industry hood" and "real hood" and Maino is definitely "real hood". Andrew picked the right rapper to really understand a rapper. After watching this episode, you should know who Maino is. BTW, who would u think would be a good rapper candidate for this episode?
"sometimes you gotta go through hell to get to heaven"
jenks deserved getting yoked up....why? because his white privilege led him to start believing he could start judging and dictating what maino 'should' be doing with his time/talent/life. I think it is this position that keeps jenks from actually becoming a top flight documentarian.also, if jenks did a modicum of research...he would have found out maino is a dedicated father and is vocal about the penal system (and he would found out that maino has a propensity to get 'handsy' if disrespected). overall, this was weak....as it used the contrived narrative of the pick yourself up by the bootstraps....his lens didn't really go beyond the surface for either those who know his subject matter or for those who are curious -- as a documentary flimmaker he has the ability to bring these to camps together and he squandered that opportunity with this episode.
He did not hav to hit Jenks 2 mak him understand! But Jenks wuz lik I'm a Man so I'm go stand up and U go Respect Me!! Gotta Love It!! Jenks Rock!!
This is the internet. Nobody cares about your life story.
I did enjoy the episode...but he didn't have to slap him though. I had to shake my head at that. I guess liquor makes you do things like that.
Yet you took the time to find this specific episode and leave a comment. Wow. I guess you showed MTV, huh?
"you think you can handle black women"?.....wooooooooooooooow
i loved this episode. Jenks you are amazing. Maino you are so cute and such a strong inspiration.
i been wanting to watch this ep for the longest and now finally seen it, probably the best ep of the series right here =)
There are a lot of people who think rap is only about a few things. It's the topics certain individuals choose to rap about, the one artist doesn't make the genre. I like this episode because Andrew really finds a way to connect with Maino. Maino assaulted him, but Andrew looked past that. And while I wouldn't call myself a fan of Maino's, because of Andrew's approach I was very interested in him. I still think it would be nice for people to see other types of rappers though. Rappers who don't make songs dedicated to partying and drinking alcohol. I like Andrew however. This show is about people he was interested in meeting, so, all I could do was accept that.
Alot of people don't understand the mentality prison gives you and how hard it is to break that mentality... I did only 13 months in prison and have been out for about a year and a half and still have alot of the mentality... Imagine 10 years of prison... The amount of time if ever one will hold that mentality and lifestyle... It's a whole different world in there... Like Aj previously said in his comment, "Everyone makes mistakes"... I have alot of respect for both Maino and Jenks... Jenks for continuously standing up after what Maino did and embracing the lifestyle and reality of the life Maino lived and lives... He has alot of heart for sure... And Maino because most people in the joint just give up and think life is over and never come up out of that hole they are in and rise to the top... Alot of props to both of them.... Great episode...
Alot of you are making a big deal just because he attacked Jenks if you pay attention they are both drunk, and everyone makes mistakes i did't like the fact he did it either but i didn't let it cloud my view i watch they episode and realized that he is a good guy he just overracted and as for the person who said rapping don't take talent well it does i know i cant do it and as for the commits about racism it exist in all forms wether your black, white, muslim, jew it exist and its a sad fact of life no one race is more racist then the other
I think Maino is a very loving person who has not dealt with his past. It is important for him to put up a front, making people believe he is tough as nails. I am pretty sure he is insecure for the most part, because only people who do that are making sure they everyone believes otherwise. He attacked Jenks because he felt attacked himself, but his way of getting back is physical. It is wrong. But eventually, he became closer to Jenks, making me realize that he actually has a heart. I wish that Maino wouldn't have done what he did to Jenks, but I think Jenks realized he was in for anything that might have come up in this situation. Therefore forgiving Maino. They both are good people. Point made. Don't judge.
i hated this episode. because maino is an *******. honestly, i dont even know who that is, what do you mean hottest rapper??? i know the song...ONE of them. but he attacked jenks...what a ####!!! and why is it this whole white/black who can deal with **** who cant attitude still going on?? SKIN COLOR PPL...we r the same inside....so a white person can still kck u the #### out
This is my LEAST favorite episode. Maino is an IDIOT for attacking Andrew! Andrew was just making him realize the negative example he might be setting for his fans, especially the children in his sons class. btw, who is Maino? There could have been better rapper to document.
