Meet three young athletes struggling to overcome injuries that threaten to derail their dreams for the future.
omg i cried alot every time it went to derek omg he is a true fighter if that was me i would try but i would get stressed out and i would cry because i would feel i would never be able to do figure skating, soccer, softball, basketball, and i would think THE MOST that i wouldnt be able to compete in any dance competitions or do any dance at all. When i saw dereks scars on his neck i cried and thought of when my brother had surgery he had scoliosis and it was really bad he was in the hospital for almost 2 months after surgery and at home i couldnt even visit him because if he got sick and coughed and sneezed he would have injured himself soo badly. Its been 2 years since his surgery now and he plays all his sports again and he can carry me and gives me piggy-back-rides and its awesome. the doctor said his scar would fade but he still has it and its like pink i feel bad for him, since it was a huge surgery now when he goes into the water at like the pool or beach he wears a rash guard and always makes sure to pull it down because his scar and it was even worse because he had always been a swimmer. Derek i look up to u, u are awesome i hope u feel better, u didnt deserve to have any of that happen to you, and how you dealt with it was amazing. i hope you improve and yah. I love you derek -Jessica <3

Derek, I hope you feel yourself better! You are great!
Hi Derek, my dad is a quad as well, I take care of him full time. You have great determination and personality. My dad is four years into his injury, we work on strengthening everyday. He is now able to use a walker to stand and take some steps. Do not give up on your rehab. Contact me if you need some tips or advice or recommendations for rehab facilities or workout strategies. Best of luck!
