Meet three young people led by their own dire circumstances down the same treacherous path to homelessness.
I've never been homeless but I have looked for jobs and its not that easy. I put in 36 applications once and only heard back from one place. All you can do is get out there and hope for the best.
The fact that they don't have a place to live school is the last thing she's worried about. Yes her mother does have some issues and I'm pretty sure there's a shelter both of them could go too. They'll be in different ones but it'll be a bed and food. If anything she can sale that hair.
There are charities and things out there that will help somebody get into a place! Pay the deposit and first month's rent. I know I have been in a similar situation. But it is up to you to keep the place up and get a job. It not hard to get a job. Just apply for ANYTHING don't be picky. Any kind of job is better than nothing especially in this economy! It's all about choices. Get it together!
if so they could have used that as a phone number. Its not being judgemental its just not being stupid to the games people play.
Mental health issues aren't easy to break but,u can get them under control by gettin help for them if u want to.Some people just don't want help for them so they can have a reason for people to feel sorry for them just like u are doing.U can get a P.O box as a address in order to get a job so,thats not an excuse. They didn't show a cell phone but, if they had a computer I'm pretty sure they had one.
does anyone know how i can reach Kenyatta from the true life im homeless episode ? I would love to help her with money and a place to live..thank you
There was nothing wrong with that daughter.....& if that mother done the things she done like walking those dogs & so forth then she can do some kind of work....& I deal with MAJOR health problems so you can't pull that line of reasoning on me. Apparently the state thinks she can work also do she would be getting disability for her health problems like I do.....people use your head. There are alot of people out here that want something for nothing thats why they do the things they do.
Katy & Liz did beg they just went about it a different way where they didn't show it right out on tv which was by computer. Kenyetta didn't beg....yes, she was in a shelter but, she didn't beg. Anyone that can afford to keep pets, a computer, & all the other fancies of life don't need to beg cause they haven't hit rock bottom. When you hit rock bottom that means you have to sell everything you have & don't have anything of any value left to your name.
Katy acts as if she has no concern for school or the show didn't show that side of her.It appeared as if she was ok with the way she was living & accepting what was coming day to day.The first time someone donated money the first thing they did was get a "nice" hotel room. If they really needed money it seems like they would have sold those dogs. Yes, they keep you company but, they also add to the cost of living. You have each other for company you don't need pets.Stop looking for hands outs
Hi, This is Danny, Kenyatta's friend from the episode. It was certainly hard seeing my friend in a homeless shelter. Perhaps shopping is her addiction, but, I think her main reason for taking a chance in the city was to get a clean slate after her mom died. To be in a place that didn't remind her of her mother I think was her ultimate goal. I think it was courageous of her to leave the place she knows and go to a place where acceptance is expected. It took guts to just get out there and do it.
Katy's mom has some serious issues. She should let her daughter go to a shelter, she is an underage young girl. She needs a stable life so she can go to school and get a job.
I understand Kenyatta feels comfortable with the party promotion thing, but I don't get why she isn't doing more to help herself. She has been in shelters since the age of 21. She could have gone to college during that time. She could get a degree in business, marketing, mass communications, and have a career in public relations. And Kelly seems so young. She just needs to leave Ronnie, go to a homeless shelter for youth, and do something with her life. She is still young enough to change herself and her life.
I think Kenyatta is so sweet. I hope things work out for her. I really hope things get better for Katy and her mom as well. I don't understand why they don't go to a shelter or at least why doesn't Katy? She is a minor and should be able to go into a youth home, but I am guessing she doesn't want to leave her mom alone. Ronnie is probably a good natured person deep down inside, but he just seems like an ass. Instead of doing something with himself he is too busy getting high and drinking alcohol. It seems like of all people he brought this on himself the most. However I do feel sorry for all of them. Times are tough and I wouldn't wish this upon my worst enemy. I really do hope and pray that things get better for each of these individuals. I loved that Mtv did an episode about homelessness, because we have thousands of homeless people living on the street everywhere here in America and I think we are so used to it that it has become the norm for us as a society and therefore it is often overlooked. But in no way should it be overlooked. It is a crisis and something needs to be done about it.
I kinda wish Kenyatta had her own show. I would totally watch that.
jillian, i couldn't have said it better my self. thanks
For those who choose to go homeless, that make me ill. Just because you dont like having rules and having to do something with your life. Youd rather live on the streets and get drunk and look like a disgusting mess. People who waste my oxygen -.-.
Obviously you havent had health problems before. So before you spit out how easy it would have been take a second and realize not everyone is blessed with good health and a family that does everything for them.
