On this episode of True Life we follow three people who are happy about being overweight.
The thing is, with how overweight Sharonda and Mikey are, that isn't healthy. You can be on the heavier side such as plus size and be healthy as there are plus size models who are healthy and exercise and eat right etc.....but those two are considered obese. The plus sizes that are healthy aren't anywhere near obese.
I honestly believe there are people who are happy being fat, just like there are people who are happy being too skinny. Doesn't make it right or healthy at all, but it's definatly possible that some people are happy with it, even if majority of people aren't and look down on it.
Don't kid yourself, nobody wants to fat, it SUCKS!
Why do people sit here and feel sorry for themselves, get up, exercise and eat right! i am 12 and I have lost 40lbs and LOVE to workout (lifting weights), you can do it. Really, That 6 pack that you all want is not that far away.
I am sorry for you if you believe that being obese is healthy. An excess amount of weight is hard on virtually your entire body, your legs, back, heart, etc. So as a psychology major and someone who has studied anatomy and physiology extensively I sincerely doubt there is any logic or truth behind what you are saying.
I believe they are saying those things because they fear her health. Its not like she is just curvy she is obese so I would mention something to her as well but I would use more tact
OMG, Sharonda's friends are the most negative people I've ever seen, if she's happy, WHO THE HELL ARE YOU to judge? If she's happy being fat, then let her be! If her doctor says, "You need to lose weight!", then by all means she should, but her friends constantly judging her, pestering her, and being negative is not motivating her to get "skinny"...I'm a big girl, and if my friends treated me that way, or spoke to me in that manner, I'd find new friends...and you can take that any way you want!!
i havent always been curvy but i am honestly happier just like sharonda is. i love my curves & i am healthier than a lot of thin people i know who eat whatever they want and don't think twice about it, it's funny no one would think of them as unhealthy if they were going to judge by their body size. i actually eat healthy foods and do minor exercise.. you can be plus and healthy/happy.. don't let anyone else's standards apply. and the bmi? really.. it needs to be updated..its how old?
oh and forever 21 plus is a nice place to get clothing!! :)
I'm deff a curvy woman and I see a lot more people that are happy / confident not being tiny or thin. I have never had health problems. I do hate that a lot of places don't make trendy clothing for plus sizes but there are many that do now! As more humans lead more sedentary life styles we are bound to start averaging higher weights.. and the BMI hasn't been updated since when? Don't let their standards make you feel bad about who you are! As long as you're healthy/happy that's all that matters
I'm sorry, but I will never accept my overweight body.
no wonder the beginning of your name is DICK thats exactly what you are and if you dont like my comment oh well
Now 6 months later and 80 lbs lighter, I have no need for insulin or any medication for that matter, I only had to take insulin/medication for TWO WEEKS before the condition nearly disappeared. My Dr. had never scene a turn around that fast, told me he thought it was literally a miracle. It's no miracle people, it's just most obese people will not make a life change even when threatened an illness like Diabetes and kidney failure, so Doctors rarely see results like that.
The problem here is no one gives a **** what you think
Oh and Sharonda should visit Torrid!!! I feel the same way; all plus size clothes dont look as fashion foward or trendy as skinny minnies; and usually brings me down; but when im shopping at Torrid I love it(: Its a tad expensive but little things here and there add up; my whole wardrobe is basically Torrid clothes :D They have nice skirts too (:
Ive been on the chubby/heavy side my whole life. I am 20 and even though i do have my days when i am down about myself; i remain happy because ive tried every weight loss thing in the world; including the "healthy" way and nothing has worked; so I put a smile on my face and embrace who I am; if people don't like it then they must be feeling really bad about themselves. I am who i am.
Thank you very much for the response, Roxie.
Tyff, This is Roxie from the show. Don't let what happened to me on a stupid show keep you from pursuing guys. That was one guy and I assure you that reaction is a-typical for many reasons. Being beautiful and sexy is about confidence. As my confidence and comfort level has grown over the last five or so years, so has my life, in a very positive way. Years later, I am still happy to be fat and wouldn't change a thing. And neither would my last few boyfriends lol. You are beautiful as is!
Man, I probably watch this episode... once or twice a week to gain some kind of motivation and inspiration to accept myself but I just cannot be happy being fat. And Roxy's experience is exactly why I will not ever ask a guy out because I know my size is a definite turn off, among other things.
its like shes more concerned about guys or getting attention than her own health!
