Justin and Terry are registered sex offenders who live their everyday lives under major restrictions. Both men are reminded of their past mistakes as they carry around a stigma that could last their entire lives.
Florida has the strictest and therefore the stupidest sex offender laws in the country. Terry's luck is terrible. Illinois laws, on the other hand, seem more lenient in comparison to Florida. There has to be some serious reform of sex offender laws. Paranoia and hysteria among the larger population is reflected in these laws. What's worse is that way too many people consider sex offenders as more heinous and evil than murderers, which makes no sense at all.
To compare people like this w/ dangerous child abductors is insane. The laws don't make enough distinctions when it comes to sex offenders. The Dept of Justice did a study that showed the level 3's were no more dangerous than the level ones, so what do the levels really mean? Even the man who started it all has learned: 'The system is broken. It's overwhelmed &I think the public is starting to realize that. You can't paint sex offenders with a broad brush.' (John Walsh, father of Adam Walsh)
I am very surprised at the type of self-righteous, extreme rigid thinking of some of these people, esp. the ones who make the "creep" comments about Terry. I don't know either of these young men but to think EITHER deserves this kind of punishment is pretty scary &makes me wonder about the maturity level of the posters. These laws are outrageously unfair. They squash a fly w/ a sledgehammer. 000a
HOLY CRAP!!! I live in Marion country, when my friends said someone from around here was gonna be on True Life I wasn't thinking THIS!!!
wow, can Terry not take ANY responsibility for his own actions?! that's just sick. clearly it's your fault
i feel like what makes it so bad about justin is that they filmed it ....like really they should have just started a book club haha
I agree they know what can happen so why do it
Right thats exactly what i said000a
wow, you didnt learn the first time?!
Why does True Life do this.
Terry is 100% at fault. He had sex both times with under age girls. Both times he got caught and was in trouble. Then he blames the school system for allowing adults to be around minors. Really? Is he that off his rocker? Yes the girls had sex with him, ew, but he was the ADULT not them. I feel bad for Justin. They were ina relationship together and "in-love." Theres a reason why you don't tape that stuff!! I would bet that the girl taped it for a reason and now Justin has to pay.
Terry is a creeper, I hope courts are smart enough to never take him off the registry.
Terry it is entirely your fault! The list was created for people like you who think that the opportunity to commit a crime makes them less guilty!
It take's 2 to have sex. sexual offence is when you force or push yourself on a minor. I don't see how it's considered sexual offence if they were both willing.... It's ridiculous who's to say the girls didn't push them self's on the guy's chick can be very persuasive and seductive lol
It takes two to have sex and sexually offence is when you force your self on some one. If they didn't force these girls into it and didn't take advantage of them i don't see how that's accounted as sexual offence....
i feel bad for justin but terry is a creep
Ha! My ex is in the background at the meeting. It's funny because he doesn't look like he gives a s***, and I know he doesn't. I'm pretty sure he never had sex with a girl that was over 18 including me. He deserves what he got and he doesn't care so I just find it funny that the whole country knows what an ass**** he is :)
But at the same time, being young can only be used as an excuse for so long. I think even at 18, they were aware of the laws and the consequences that came with them. You're right, it does suck that they will have to have this follow them around, but at the same they broke a law.
But, they were young and dumb. I think they just caught up with a stupid mistake they couldn't take back. I don't feel sorry for them, but I'm condemning them either. Not saying you're going that either.
I can't really say I feel sorry for either of these boys. If Justin was "in love" he could have waited until she was of legal age to have sex with her. You do not have to have sex with someone to know that you love them, or to show that you love them. And Terry didn't learn the first time, when the parents tried to charge him. Both the situations could have been avoided if they didn't have sex with minors, consensual or not, they are minors. Relationships do not have to include sex.
