In the final episode of 'The Maxx,' Julie parts ways with Maxx, freeing him to discover his own Outback.
bring back oddities!
cool story bro
This was and is an awesome series. I remember watching this when I was a kid arguing with my mother so I could stay up and watch it. Those were the days, when TV didn't have all of these crappy reality shows on all the time. And Mtv actually played music videos. I miss all the weird and different shows that they sponsored like this and a lot of the other Liquid television animated shorts and series. "Heavy sigh." I just hope they realize these shows can attract a much wider fan-base than some of these other crap shows that they put on. And they will actually stimulate people into doing and thinking things beyond "I wanna be a bigger slut than all the Jersey girls." Even Beavis and Butt-head were better ( Personally they were one of my top favorites) and some times smarter than some of the people on these shows. And they were TRYING to be as stupid as possible! These people top Beavis and Butt-head on a daily basis, believing they're acting in a competent manner. MORONS!!! ALL!!! MORONS!!! That also goes for the generation that these idiots are damaging beyond repair. At least with animated shows children with half a brain will not reproduce everything they see, because they will understand that they are just animations and cartoons. We need these shows back because they stimulate thought and imagination and creativity. I can't say much for Beavis and Butt-head on that part because they were just funny as all hell and nothing but. But on the brighter side if they do what they used to, and make fun of the things that they don't like, and pick on people that are dumber than them like the whole cast of the Jersey Shore hopefully people will catch on. If someone that lets his friend ***** a toy soldier to his hands not once but twice, calls you stupid and everyone can see the video proof of it. Your dumb. And this will be the beginning of the downfall of reality TV. Because the people watching it will see they're right, and gain more interest in Beavis and Butt-head because they're funny. And they make fun of things that other people only think of making fun of. Thus the interest in them will grow exponentially hopefully resulting in their continued success. As well as all of the other animated series and shorts that will be sure to follow just like they did before.
What I get from this series is a persons ability to create many "universes" within their own psyche. The different levels of consciousness and barriers we as people design to protect ourselves. I think Julie spent so much time in her " outback " that the real world became unstable for her and vice verse. I believe that Maxx and Julie had a co dependency based on their needs. Both needing to be strong and needed. Maxx was connected to Julie and her outback car after she hit him with her car. Julie survived her attack by remembering her mother being strong to kill the rabbit, Julie could not save. Julie projected her feelings for the rabbit onto Maxx. I think this series was showing us that our feelings, fears ect inside will manifest into reality if no dealt with. LOL I was only 15 when I first watched this series. It is even better now as an adult. In any case television could definitely use more of these thought provoking series instead of reality BS.
I've seen many cartoons, many anime, many movies and none is more mysterious, special and "Psychedelic" like The Maxx. In the beginning its interesting but I didn't know what to think about it, and I change my mind about it after each episode, then I understand it all, its not about a paralel world or just an imagination, its all about feelings, the idea to escape from this reality and make your own, in your mind, to feel better, to feel what you are not or cannot accomplish in the real worl, and here homeless got trapped between both of them and without his will he must take part of it. This was just a part of The Maxx, these 13 episode were made from issues 1-11# from the comic book, and there 30# issues of it. We still have so much to learn from this and ourselves and our little world we lock ourselves into. Bravo Sam Kieth =D> :-bd
"The MAXX" was ....and always shall be a fantastic story ....where are all the writers "Gone" to !!!!!!......................PLEASE MTV ----revive this !!!!!
I'm with you on that one Justin. TV now is just empty and dull. Just dumb jokes and crap. I gotta say i love the 90's!
I agree with this little animated series having deep meaning, with some great animation at times and simple humor that is great. Miss this show.
Is it just me, or did we have deeper, more meaningful music and television back in the 90's? I can't think of the last time I saw something as imaginative and creative as "The Maxx" on TV--at least not in the last decade.
I thought I was alone for years. I found a copy of a VHS of this when I was a kid in a video rental place. When I got older I scoured every video rental place, movie store, online, all over the place and no one was talking about it. None of my friends knew what I was talking about. I did, however, find threads of people trying to petition for new seasons or live action films. Then, once Aeon Flux was pulled back into the sunlight from it's dark hiding place, into a live action/mainstream format, everybody went, "Oh yeah! NOW I remember Liquid television!" People want it and I almost need it. Put a competent director in charge of this and make a new animated series. Once that blows the top off of the box office, then risk a live action flick. THEN I can die a happy man.
I miss this show....
just to good ...
They need to make Season 2 based on issues 12-22 and Season 3 based on #23-32!!! That would be awesome!
bring it back or ill find you
I know right?! Man, I wish they would do another series. Did you know that there is a Maxx comic book? Yeah, it's been around for a long time and I think they still make em'.
soo sad to see it end
I remember being amazed at the computer generated graphics. The plane the car. I was blown away. hahaha! It must have cost them a fortune for that at the time.
