Their FIRST video and they lost it? Well, I guess that's to be expected because they've gone from MTV, MusicTeleVision, to EmptyVee, brainless reality crap.

It's MTV's website and it is their original first video and THEY CAN'T FIND IT? ***?!?! Lame!!
in 1981i sat there for 3 days waiting for that very first video it was >>"Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles...if i remember right it was at 2 pm August 1,1981 it was a great day to be alive....
It stands for "Money for selling out"
Being an avid viewer for many years, it's a shame that you guys turned around and commercialized the entire concept of "Music television" and devolved into the current state you're in. Even turned your back on celebrating you're own 30th anniversary by showing your beginnings on another station? That's like celebrating your wedding anniversary with someone else's WIFE! I'm afraid you lost me as a viewer and resorting to YouTube for my music videos. I'm better off dealing with REALITY, than "reality shows".
Thanks, MTV. It's been real.
This is an excellent video.I hope to purchase a copy some day soon.
I remember waiting until MTV "started" w/this tune! So OH YES, I knew it was the first video!
1st MTV music video!!! ha ha ha bet u didn't know that!
This song reminds me the beginning of mtv itself when it came to the air. To me, the song is like an anthem.
Great song!
some of don't like this...but you gotta start somewhere. it is better than alot of the crap out today. at least the video has some creativety!
brings back memories
Yeah, big dog! I feel u...In fact I remember that even the COMMERCIALS on MTV had 2 b like a video. They were all musical. Once the regular commercials started, it as a slow decline 2 the current ****** situation of really bad scripted "reality" shows with occational videos shown. That's why I use my DVR tp record them inthe morning then fast-forward through their sponsors!!! he hee
Is there a 'First Seasons' DVD collection? Something with the VJ's intro and the videos? That might well be worth buying!
Ah yes! Remember when this channel was cool!? Although I was only 5 in August of 1981 I remember it like it was yesterday. Video did kill the radio star, but MTV killed the video star. What the hell does MTV stand for anyway? Back in 1981 through about 1988 The M stood for music. What does that M stand for now?
you have to remember that this is the first video EVER played on MTV
