The DJ talks about his upcoming MTV series about battles with drug addiction. (7.29.09)
12 step work is an integral part of recovery.what he did kept him sober. putting this show on the air will help other addicts to recover and to stay sober. we will never know what happened to him, but your "guess" is a poor one, in my opinion. for any and all alcoholics and addicts, giving it away is how sobriety is maintained - not lost. RIP DJ AM your work continues because of this show.
I don't know why his death has saddened me so much. Maybe it was his age (only 36) or maybe it was the shock that a person who was sober and drug free for so many years dies from a drug over dose. I send my condolences to his family and the many friends he had. Maybe his legacy was to make this MTV series to save a few lives of those poor souls we call drug addicts. I think he left this earth as a courageous man who did something unselfish and from his heart---he exposed himself to an environment that was dangerous for him to be in just to help others overcome their demons. May he rest in peace.
There is no doubt in my mind that this show and MTV directly contributed to the death of AM. Why MTV/Viacom would think it was a good idea to encourage/allow a recovering heavy drug addict to put their self in and around situations with other drug users and drug paraphernalia for profit is beyond comprehension. DJ AM (Adam) was not a physician; he was a recovering drug addict who was battling each and every day for the past 11 years to stay sober. To allow or encourage AM to go and buy a crack pipe and film it is a blatent disregard for his sobriety and as good as signing his death certificate. Even the thought of this series airing and MTV/Viacom profiting on it is disgusting and repulsive. While I have only met AM once in my live there are others who know him as a best friend, son and many other loving titles. So to those, Homicide, Steve, Ben, Kevin, Trav$, Samantha and the many many others who’s lives were touched by this wonderful person keep your head up, this star will shine bright forever.
I know him so RIP Adam
i don't even know who this dude was.....must not have been too famous, i've never heard of him..
wait... what?
MTV WILL EXPLOIT ANYONE. WATCHING SOMEONE BEING EXPLOITED IS EXPLOITIVE.
RIP Adam.
So sad. RIP
