Clarkson took the OneRepublic frontman to task for similarities between her "Already Gone" and B's "Halo," both written by Tedder. (7.29.09)
Both awesome songs and yes, there are similarities but it shouldn't take away from the fact that both are really great songs.
There's no denying it! The back tracking on both "Already Gone" and "Halo" sounds similar but there not identical. Both songs are amazing in their own right and so are both the artist. I agree with Tedder that the songs have differences as well, in meaning and melody, but that's due to Kelly writing on "Already Gone". Wether this was a mistake or not I'm glad that Kelly stands up for herself when she feels she needs to and that she showed respect for Beyonce in not wanting to release the song as a single. I also agree with Tedder that Kelly Clarkson is one of the best female vocalist of today and if the rumors become true and RCA drops her for speaking her opinion then they will be making a huge and moronic mistake. If they wanted a ballad to be released so badly as the third single then why did they not choose "Cry" or "If No One Will Listen" when Kelly spoke with them about not releasing "Already Gone" as a single, it's not like the record company didnt have any other songs from "All I Ever Wanted" to choose from, I mean there are fifteen tracks on the album!
