When Beyonce was asked to do President Obama's inaugural ball, and specifically when she was asked to do "At Last," she should have expressed what an honor it was to be asked but then inquired if they had asked Etta James first since "At Last" is her signature song. Having just played Etta James in a film, this should have been her first concern. This obviously did not occur, and this is where Beyonce and her handlers began to be disrespectful towards Etta James. I understand they were trying to appeal to a younger audience, but if that were the case, Beyonce should have sung one of her own songs. Of course, none of her songs have the historical significance that "At Last" does, a significance given to it by the blood, sweat and tears of Etta James who lived it. If Ray Charles were still alive, would they have chosen Jamie Fox to sing one of his songs? I doubt it. Did they ask The Jonas Brothers to sing U2's "Pride" at the inauguration? I doubt it. At the moment, another song comes to mind that the late, great James Brown sang, the classic "It's a Man's Man's Man's World". Trust me, it was a man who put the sexy Beyonce up there on stage instead of the legendary Etta James. And I'm not talking about President Obama. He has more important things to worry about than who sings at his inaugural ball. But if it were up to him, you better believe that it would have been Etta James up there on stage bringing down the house. Etta James has earned the right to give Beyonce a good whipping. And trust me, the men will line up for that as well.
Okay, were do I start? Hmm first of all shame on Etta James, Beyonce far more accomplished then a one hit wonder, in addition she has put so much time and effort in honoring Etta James and her legacy. Beyonce has gone far out of her way in addition to the movie to honor Etta James at the VH1 Honors and the Grammy's. Etta is a woman who is so selfish and self centered that she is even betraying all the work B is doing to leave a lasting impression of her and she goes and says this becuase she couldn't sing for the President and then she puts her self above even the remarkable events for all man kind with a man of color being elected... WoW Etta James you are ******* on yourself and those around trying to help you fool!
