Before you shoot the messenger, James Montgomery explains his Album of the Year picks, and invites you to do the same. (12.17.08)
james, i'm giving you a thumbs up on this vid, cuz you have the right to pick who you want and to hear people's opinions on it. but i think a more realistic list for the 'best of 2008 ' should be a poll voted on by fans or some other way of unbiased tallying . i still think you should've called this list 'my album picks for 2008...'
if you were to do a list, leaving out your and mtv's personal preferences and go based solely on what music fans like, then yes, i feel britney should've made the list. no other artist this year, created such worldwide buzz than her. for an artist that's been selling records since she was 17 back in 1998, it's not always easy to remain @ the top. not many teen solo artists even make it to 6 albums and also break and make music records, but she did. her hot 100 leap, her 5 #1 album and selling more in the first week than other top selling female artists tells me, she's still got it.
james, i don't disagree with your top 25 picks, again that's your right. but i do disagree with how you're titling these articles. titling it 'the best 25 albums for 2008' is misleading to many fans, cuz you're giving it the title that mtv picked them or that your news team picked them with complete unbiasedness. you gotta start titling these articles as your personal preferences for 2008. not 'the best of 2008.'
