"It's a political song ... but it's a personal song," Sara Quin says of "I Was Married" from the duo's new album, The Con. (8.9.07)
The article this video is attached to describes their song as controversial. There's nothing controversial about an openly gay songwriter who often writes and talks about her relationships, intimate and otherwise, writing a song about gay marriage. If the listening public, label, or concert promoters had objected that would have caused a controversy. The song is just a song, why create drama before anyone's even heard it? Also, this TV host describes Tegan and Sara as a "songwriting duo", that's inaccurate. Only after this album was released, and after this segment produced, did they start writing songs together after some thirteen years of writing separately. They've mentioned this in many other interviews and concert footage all easily available on YouTube. Anyone with Internet access can find this stuff out easily, why can't the professionals? I'll cash their paychecks if they don't want them. Just sayin'.
I totally agree!
they are so great
