i think that bilingual artist have somewhat of an advantage because they have the opportunity to explore both cultures....the song is great....and her spanish is good and by singing in spanish she is trying to grow as an artist and be known all over latin america
i disagree with those who believe she should no longer sing in english. for one, yes, she does have portugesse and hispanic roots but she is alsso canadian. she speaks english perfectly and sings just as perfect. now secondly and even more importantly, for her to sing only in spanish or portugesse she would alienate an entire group of people that could potentially be her fans. at the end of the day singing is still a business and not an art form. by not singing in english she would lose a catastrophic amount of money as well as popularity which is important in this type of career. English is the most spoken language as a general public around and throughout the public. it's not chinesse, greek, german, or even spanish or french, it IS ENGLISH and for her to cut off herself from that language would end her international career. England and the US arew the two most successful countries in terms of media (and as much as you may deny it is true). Next would be Australia. if Nelly Furtado and any singer for that matter stopped singing in english then she would not and could not be nearly as successful. Every worldwide modern singer has atleast two English songs and the most have only english songs. for them to only sing in their native language would cut off many fans from good music and many singers from good money. Her singing in English is what made her international career what it is today. the spanish singing is meerly just an interesting, fresh change of pace. And I'm positive she will have many more English songs that will beat this out in popularity amd economically. No matter what some of you might believe, at the end of the day this song is only directed toward a specific audience and is just a pretty nice sound for most of viewers. it cannot relate to the majority of people in this world and it will not, at the end of the day bring in the big bucks. sorry but it's true....

Her Spanish would be much more convincing if she stopped aspirated her voiceless stops (making a puff of air after 'p,' 't', and 'k').
