The newest sports craze to hit America crashes at MTV!
siiiippp
Seriously MTV? A midnight time slot?? Parkour is the next big thing and you're doing this? This show is the only reason I even watch your network! I strongly urge you to move them to a better time slot. They could easily take the show format to ESPN or G4 and actually get the show the respect it deserves.
It's great to see this amazing sport emerging from the internet onto mainstream tv. For a lot of kids the introduction to parkour/freerunning could be just what it takes to keep them out of gangs and away from drugs. I beleive this sport will also advocate the fight against childhood obesity. After watching a few episodes you can't help but be inspired to get off your butt and start freerunning!!!!
Wow That was just amazing to watch.all of you guy are the reason me and my friends started free running.
The compition is normal. We humans can't seem to be without it...even a little bit. For it to be on something this fun to watch and interesting to see how it came about is a great thing. If there is money involved that, to me, isn't a big thing either only because these kids (and you are kids to me) work hard at what they do and have earned the respect and admiration of a lot of people...if you can turn it into a money making event and still keep the heart of it then why not? Daniel kept to the heart of it...as he said in the end...he was just having fun. He was not really looking for a plan other then to be himself.
hi
These are very talented traceurs and freerunners, no question. Amazing skills, toughness, and mastery on display from every contestant. Go King! So, top traceurs, why settle for $10K in prize money? It looks desperate. You are some of the most gifted athletes on the planet. The community is small, so organize yourselves and take the power away from the men behind the cameras. If you're gonna get paid, get PAID!
but if you go into a competition not thinking how you can one up another person, but one up yourself. Not to mention the fact that getting 10 people who are so devoted in the sport together, swapping ideas, and creating friendships that will in turn further their talents... in the intro they said "parkour/freerunning competition". i don't agree that they should be bunched together but i'm just saying
Seconding this motion
I'm with Fraser Valley Parkour on this one. I've been a devoted traceur for 4 years now and I really hate to see this happening to parkour. Parkour was never intended to be viewed or judged like skateboarding or BMX. It's a lifestyle, it's freedom, it's loving what you do and not caring what others think. And if you are a traceur and you like to do flips and stuff, that's fine. But don't chunk in flips and things with parkour. A backflip is never the most efficient movement.
We COMPLETELY agree, how do I help you in this boycott?
OKAY people, I made an account just to say that this one thing, this is all WRONG! Parkour is absolutely non - competitive. I had fears from the beginning that this would happen. To ALL PEOPLE READING THIS, Parkour is not about how good you are or how someone is better than you. Its about flow and interaction with your environment. That is what separates Parkour from other sports. Fraser Valley Parkour Group
This is awesome. Side note, the word is "JUDGMENT", not "JUDGEMENT." One too many letter E's there. Hate when people get that wrong. Iron Chef used to do that.
This was not so much parkour as free running and there is a big difference MTV might want to rename the show. However I did enjoy it and I like the fact that it's finally going to put parkour on the map.
so what... now parkour will be more recognized for more people and they might not call to the traceurs "tieves" parkour is the best sport beside the MMA
Yeah, I bet the creators I thinking every second (please no law suit please no law suit) because someone can get seriously injured doing this stuff and even the pros don't land it 100% as we all can see from this episode.
DUDE ppl are gonna die on this show..... that **** is crazy. BTW put jackie chan on here and let him BEAST ON SOME PPLS HAHA.
that place looks awesome. its good that there's finally a show for it, but parkour isnt a competition its a way of living. it kinda makes us look like a bunch of tricksters, and knowing that theyre being judged is probably why they made some mistakes, like trying to look really cool & move fast. thats not what parkour's about. flips arent really parkour either, its more of a choice, and the judging was based mostly on sweet flips. i think they should edit the show somehow, like just show them doing something, and then have them show you how to do it. and i agree completely with darwin's post below
BOYCOTT -------- I am a Tracuer. All of us know that there is no competition in Parkour. We all also know that nothing good comes from trying to add competition to it. Having a Parkour show being aired is awesome. It is however not Parkour when people are competing. I am representing a large community of Tracuers in California. We have issued a boycott on MTVs Ultimate Parkour Challenge and we will remain in this stance until the competition aspect changes. We will not watch, download, stream, endorse or give any positive attention to this program. And for all that wish to see Parkour grow, healthily, into what it was started to be, we ask you to do the same. We will not betray the fundamental philosophies of Parkour for the sake of entertainment.
