My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way says the band's cover of Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row" for "Watchmen" has an '80s sound. (7.30.08)
When I heard them do the rendition of this song on youtube, my mouth dropped. This is my favorite Bob Dylan song, only Gerard Way could spin it into a classic punk version. Brilliantly. Way's lyrics are relevant today as Dylan's were back in the sixties. I wish I had seen it live, we saw the first show in Tempe AZ and they didn't play it, I would have collapsed if they had. Literally. The most important song of the turn of the century? Leathermouth's Frank Iero, 5th Period Massacre. I respect he's using his music as a muse to help kids open their eyes--good manners are the glue to society.
