in a book you have to place the setting in a length of time. with a movie u can't do that. so they did the whole confrontation at a field trip instead of at school. stephanie was there all the way to know what to keep and take out. it still has that tention when he ingnores her at school but at a field trip. he can't ignore her the whole and she will keep on pushing. all the cullens will be there too.
