The cult-favorite director discusses his take on the wildly-popular animated series. (11.18.08)
yeah really the race of the actors doesnt matter. God some people are so ignorant, go and educate yourself on why this matters im tired of explaining it to you idiots. But I will leave you with one thing everything in that show was derived from real people not something imaginary!! you cant take what you want from a culture and leave the people out of it. And this interview is old as hell probably put here to make you idiots believe that the creators of Avatar are ok with the direction this movie is taking, the interview was conducted before the casting was ever released. And since the casting came out the creators have gone into seclusion probably due the legal ramifications there would be if they spoke out against the crap that m night is putting together!! Because im pretty sure if they agreed with this supposed diverse cast of white people as the saviors of all us minorities!! "since we all know we needs the masta's savin us!" They would have easily made a statement to quell this backlash that the casting created, or at least try anyway. But whatever you sheep have already made up your minds and it's because of people like you that hollywood is going to keep getting away with this racist crap so all the other races NOT Caucasian can keep being busboys, gardeners, gang members, and liquor store clerks. God knows hollywood is always gonna need those. SHEEP!!!! BAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!
Sounds good. M. Night may be on the right track. We'll see. What's with people angry over the race of the actors? Avatar is a cartoon. Based in a fantasy world. It's not reality. There is no Asia or asian race. There's no Black, white, Hawaiian whatever. There are 4 fictional nations. The actors can be whatever race, ethnicity or nationality. It's the acting, writing and directing that will matter in the end. Nothing about Aang, except maybe the name, suggests race. And there are plenty of people in reality that have names that are in no relation to there race whatsoever.
i think that Dev Patel as Zuko isa bad choice. Zuko isn't indian! and Uncle Iroh is supposed to be fat too, not skinny. i'm pretty disappointed with those castings. well actually i'm really disappointed. hopefully the film will still be good. though i'm stoked to see Cliff Curtis as Fire Lord Ozai, coz he's a Kiwi! =D
Avatar!!!!! yeah, the last airbender! love the cartoon. Hopefully this is going to be a good movie, can't wait!
I can't wait I loved the cartoon hope the movie is just as good.
Odd how the cast is all white.
