Outstanding!! The only Felony cimmitted was a PC 186 Conspiracy to commit murder by George W. Bush when he deliberately lied to jeopardize the lives of several hundred thousand american troops of which 4,000 have since been murdered by the hand of GWB. Case Closed.
I am an OIF vet, who none the less was stopped loss. This movie touched home with me. I have see many others in the same situation as this SSG. I am also a female though I was not in a combat MOS, I have seen more combat that I ever want to talk about. I was told my military career that I would not see combat. Little did they know we drove though ambushes, mortars, IED's and other situations. So did I come home with PTSD, yes as well as over half my unit did too. For the viewer who commented on the PTSD being only 15-17% of troops, please take a look at what MOS these soldiers are in. PTSD effects every solider differently and sometimes it is not always easily detectable. We all coped in different ways. I think this is a great movie and it will touch anyone who has been in this situation or known someone who has been.
Oh good; another Military movie created by people who have no idea what the Military is all about. My father was put on stop loss for two years when he tried to retire after 25 years. He was aviation. My husband has spent a total of 27 months in Iraq between his two tours. He's Infantry. No one complained; our family understood what they signed on to do and that stop loss was part of that contract, if need be, during a time of war. It's not some big secret they keep from you when you sign that contract. I'm willing to bet, even without seeing the movie, it has the token Soldier who comes back and is suffering from PTSD...even though only 15-17% of our troops actually suffer from it...and most of those are female troops who can't serve in combat MOS's. I really am sick to death of these "insightful" Military movies that have been coming out lately. It does nothing but perpetuate negative stereotypes in the minds of civilians who don't understand the Military and can't differentiate between what's factual and what's embellished.
In your military contract you are told that you will serve x number of years active, with 4 years of what they call inactive reserve. What that means that you can be called back to service. You sign your contract knowing this and you are expected to with hold this. If he wants to fight it he can go to jail for desertion which is a felony. I believe that it is a shame that people have to get sent back I just do not agree with where this movie took it he is just committing a felony.
This movie looks extremly amazing and for sure i will see it the day it comes out. The whole idea about the war being in it just shows how much we care for our country and how accomplished we want to be. Not only that but all girls have to agree that Channing is extremly hot :]
First of all let me say that I am extremely proud of my son-in-law and all those fighting for my/our way of life in the USA. Then I have to say how strongly I oppose the stop loss policy for our regular military. My son-in-law served bravely in Iraq. He and my daughter made plans to start their family in line with his completion of his term of service in 2/07. We were all excited when we found out they were expecting their first child! Then the army stop lossed him and as a result, he has been in Afghanistan since 3/07, missing the birth of his son and all of his first year as well. What's even more frustrating to me is that this country seems to have forgotten that we are even at war in Afghanistan! Our military families are struggling to carry the heavy load of these wars while the rest of us just go on about our business. What did the president tell us to do? Oh yeah, SHOP!!!! Thank you to all who are serving!! You are in my prayers every hour of every day. I hope that we, as a country, can start making you as proud of us, as we are of you.
I know that many will view this as another anti war liberal slam on bush and everything conservitive...I'm a republican and an Operation Iraqi Freedom Combat Vet...I didn't serve in 100 some odd missions like the soldier in this movie...I served in 300 some odd missions...I don't care what the intention of making this movie was or is...I want people to know that STOP-LOSS is something that really happens to good men...it tears them and their families apart and is a horrible thing that nearly happened to myself (i missed it by a few weeks) and did happen to many of my best friends that served with me in combat...they are in Baghdad again right now...because of a stop loss....I'm not an anti war protestor...but this is about good young brave men getting screwed by the Army...sometimes at the cost of their lives....thanks to whomever made this movie.....out
