I lived in the US for a total of 12 years. American comedy at its best is superb. Frasier, Seinfeld, MASH, Friends and The Big Bang Theory are peerless. The Simpsons, Family Guy...These are sharp, incisive and consistently imaginative programmes that are often more pungent commentaries on American life than the anodyne and neutered news and opinion segments that should be doing that job. It is also true that much American television is dross, though the same can equally be said of UK output, some of which is painfully, toe-curlingly bad. A possible reason for some British failures is the general absence of the gang of writers found on many US hits. Naturally the budgets available to those on opposite sides of the Atlantic is a significant factor in this difference of approach in the respectivecreative processes.000aIt is easy to be angered by the clumsy and derivative retreads of hit programmes for domestic consumption ( I would never watch the US version of Life on Mars as I cherish the original to much).000aTo dismiss American comedy as comprehensively as some here have done is to ignore the heritage of000aall those wonderful emotive ornaments to our lives that have come into our homes over the past 60 years. 000a000a000a
Personally I have never seen the British original Inbetweeners, but I think it is pretty cool MTV is bringing the show to all of us that haven't seen the British version so yeah I'm going to watch the MTV version of it :) I don't care if its a remake or anything I'm going to watch it :) So yeah.
Well, one of the MANY things that makes it embarrassing to be an American...
They were going for "The Office" but they're ending up with "Life On Mars". I will never forgive the BBC for selling that one. TO ABC OF ALL PEOPLE! Man, they suck.
***. I am literally crying because it is so awful, WHY DID YOU HAVE TO RUIN THIS SHOW MTV?!? WHY? aghhhghhhghhhg the U.K version, the ORIGINAL version was perfect. Now I'll have to listen to my dumb classmates talk about how funny that new mtv show is. no just no. -______-
This looks like a terrible version of the UK version. Same names and everything.
Ahh everyone just shut up and enjoy the show !
This kind of thing makes it embarrassing to be an American. Sorry, Brits.
Nonono, Boaz. The Script, What they say, the story line, and sequence of events. Even those are almost the exact same. That's remaking NOT adapting.... They could have at least came up with their own ideas. Remaking a show is so pointless. Especially if the original is really good. MTV is just too lazy. The Skins remake was just so badly put together. It was like watch a high school play read the scripts of the original show. Judging by your comments, you never saw The Inbetweeners? 'Cause I can tell just from this trailer it's going to be regurgitating the show into garbage.
