What Is It?
Ever wished there were a convincing way to get out of a situation - like a lame date or a boring meeting? Well, now there's a way. *MTV Rescue Rings let you schedule a time when you want your Virgin Mobile phone to ring. So, if you've got a blind date at 8, and you want an "out" option once the date is underway, set your phone to call you at 8:30. And check this out -- the voice that's going to be calling you will be one of your favorite MTV celebrities.

How do I use it?
Follow these steps:
1. Go to the "Main Menu" of your Virgin Mobile cell phone and use the "OK" function to select "VirginXtras."

2. Scroll until your arrow or highlight is on "*MTV." Use the "OK" function to select it.

3. You are now on the "*MTV Main Menu." Scroll until your arrow or highlight is on "Rescue Rings." Use the "OK" function to select it.

4. You are now in the "Rescue Rings" area. Scroll down the list of "Rescue Rings" until you find the show or celebrity that you want to have call you. Once you do, use the "OK" function to select it (or him, or her).

5. Type in the day, month, and year that you want to receive the "Rescue Ring," and click "OK."

6. Then, type in the time that you want to receive the ring, and click "OK."

7. Next, pick AM or PM, and click "OK."

8. Then select your time zone, and click "OK."

9. You'll get a message on your screen confirming that your call has been scheduled. (If, for some strange reason we can't set up a "Rescue Ring" at that moment, you'll be asked to try again after a short while.)

10. At the time you selected, you'll get a call on your phone. It's up to you whether to use the call as a "rescue" or not.

How about a tip?
Sure, here are some tips:
1. You can only get *MTV Rescue Rings on your Virgin Mobile phone.

2. The shows available to choose from include messages from more than one castmember - we'll surprise you with which castmember rescues you.

3. Since a Rescue Ring is a call to your cell phone, all the normal rules about being able to receive a call apply.

4. Your phone has to be on and working in order to receive *MTV Rescue Rings at the time you selected (so make sure that your battery is charged!).

5. A Rescue Ring costs the same as a normal call, so you have to have enough balance on your phone to receive a call.

6. You have to be within the Virgin Mobile USA service coverage area to receive a Rescue Ring.

7. If you're on a different phone call when you receive a Rescue Ring, you will get a call waiting notification (or not if you have opted out of call waiting). The Rescue Ring will go to your voicemail if you don't pick up the call.

How much does it cost?
Each Rescue Ring costs only 25 cents plus the airtime that the Rescue Ring uses. Typical Rescue Rings are between 1 and 2 minutes long.
