Why do I have to tell you my e-mail address?
Admit it--you’re worried that we’re going to sell your information to some company that’ll spam your inbox with junk. We only use your information internally and would never hand it over to someone else without your permission. We want info like your e-mail address and your favorite types of music so we can make MTV.com user-friendlier for you.

Why are people under the age of 13 not allowed to become MTV.com members?
It’s the government, not us. As of April 21, 2000, MTV.com can no longer accept registrations from children under the age of 13 thanks to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"). COPPA was enacted to prevent Web sites from giving or receiving information from children without their parents' consent. We’re working on a way to use reliable forms of parental consent and we will let you know when we’re ready to rock the kids again. You can learn more about COPPA at the Federal Trade Commission Web site.
