How do I create my profile?
When you first register for MTV.com, you should be prompted to create a profile. A profile wizard will take you through each step to creating your profile, from entering your favorite bands to setting your privacy preferences. If you have already registered and would like to create a profile, click “create a profile” in the “Community” section of MTV.com’s homepage. Then click on “create/edit profile” on the left hand side of the page. Click “edit” on the section you would like to create or edit.
What information can I put in my profile?
There are so many options we couldn’t list them all here. You can include your favorite bands, videos, albums and MTV shows as well as your interests and your favorite profiles just to name a few.
How do I add favorites to my profile?
From our homepage click “edit profile.” You will need to sign in if you have not done so already. Your profile will pop-up, and simply select the edit button for the area you wish to change. For example, to add your favorite bands, click the “edit” and enter the artist's name into the search box provided. In another window your search results will appear, and you can click the "Add to my Favorites" button.
Can I hide certain parts of my profile from the public?
You can hide any part of your profile that you do not want other MTV.com members to see. Click on “edit” in the field that contains the information you would like to hide to the public. Check the box next to “Don’t Show…” to hide the information in a field. Make sure you click “save” in the lower right hand corner to make that selection permanent.
Can I delete my profile once I have already posted it?
If you create a profile, then decide you no longer want to have one, you can hide all of the fields to prevent others from viewing it. You might have a change of heart, so it won’t be deleted completely. You can come back and unhide any part if you change your mind. If you are feeling shy and you don’t want people to search for your profile, you should hide your “Interests” section because that is how people search profiles.
How do I search other member profiles?
On your profile page in the lower right hand corner, you will see a member search box in which you can enter a keyword or username to locate other profiles.
Can I make changes to my profile after it’s already been created?
You sure can! Just click “edit” next to the section on your profile that you would like to change. If you are signed in, you can access your profile anytime by clicking on “edit profile” on the top of any page with the rest of your member information.
