It's time for The Prom Kings to get serious, especially since Greg has lined up the head of Geffen Records to attend the band's next gig. The only problem is that half the band quit when Chris ended up in an Arkansas jail and blowing a gig back in Los Angeles. With pressure on Chris to pull his act together, Greg assures Whitman that he will find new members before the showcase.
Across town an excited Frankie meets with the owner of Pray, a new club that could be the next L.A. hot spot. But before he can be hired to promote the opening night party, he's told he'll have to demonstrate his promotion skills at an existing club, Lobby. Frustrated, but determined to land the gig working for the exclusive new venue, Frankie accepts the challenge.
Later, Whitman leaves a meeting with Chris to meet up with his prospective girlfriend, Shayne. Arriving at her house, he's greeted by her father, actor Lorenzo Lamas, who grills him and lays down some ground rules for dating his daughter.
Meanwhile, working with the original bass player, Greg finds a new drummer and guitarist for The Prom Kings. But a rehearsal proves frustrating when Chris shows up late and has trouble remembering lyrics to the songs.
But after some time, The Prom Kings manage to impress Geffen's Ron Fair with their performance at Hollywood's Virgin Mega Store. Chris is ecstatic when Greg announces he has lined up a meeting with the label, and his brother reminds him that it's just a meeting and that the band is still unsigned.
The turnout for the party at Lobby is light, but after some quick calls to friends, the club fills up, Frankie is back in business. Things seem great for everyone in the VIP section, except Ty and Whitman who wait into the wee hours for dates who never arrive. Once home, Whitman gets a call from Chris, who is still partying and has spotted Shayne out with another man.
